Many of you know we have a weather station at the top of the tower behind the Marina Office. Data from the station is fed into a display panel located in the Marina Office. It’s an easy way for our team to monitor the weather conditions on Lake Ontario and Little Sodus Bay. We also share this information with our boaters and the public at large by embedding live weather data from the station on our website.
But did you know you can check the weather at the marina from your mobile device? All you need is the Davis Weatherlink 2.0 mobile app, available from the Apple and Google Play app stores. Here are the download links.
Once you have installed the app, hit the plus sign (+) in the top left corner and enter “Fair Point” in the search window that appears. It should bring up our weather station. To save this as a favorite, just tap the bookmark icon in the upper right area (appearing on the right side of where the Fair Point Marina name is listed at the top).
Voila! Now you can check on detailed weather conditions at the marina including 7-day and hourly forecasts, precipitation data, temperature and humidity and perhaps most importantly of all, wind speed, gusts and direction. You don’t need a username or password to access the station remotely this way.
Hope you find this useful. It’s another tool boaters can use to look at weather conditions on Lake Ontario and Little Sodus Bay.
